Some of my favorite childhood memories come from get-togethers at Granny's house with tables full of fantastic food. This is a collection of recipes I've managed to cobble together. Many of the recipes come from Granny, many from my Mom and her sisters, some from me, some from cousins, and at least one from my son. I have no idea where most of these recipes actually originate, and it really doesn't matter to me. Some of these recipes are old, and some are new, but all come from the extended family. And if you happen to be a member of my extended family, and you have any good recipes that aren't here, please send them to me!

WARNING: Many “recipes” contained herein did not come to me with any semblance of a quantity, &c. Just ask my mom how to make gravy, and you'll discover what I'm talking about. Here's an approximation of a conversation from 30+ years ago.

Me: I want your gravy recipe

Mom: You take the left-over grease from the sausage, add the flour, brown it, and add the milk. Don't forget the salt and pepper, or it won't be any good.

Me: What? How much of each?

Mom: The right amount.

Me: How much is that?

Mom: You just know by looking.

I finally figured it out, and I actually know what she meant by "you know by looking," but it took several seriously-botched attempts before I got it right. Just ask my wife about it.
