Mashed Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
5# potatoes, peeled and diced
2 sticks of butter (more or less depending on how buttery you like your potatoes)
canned milk (evaporated milk, NOT condensed milk)
salt & pepper
Cook the potatoes in salted boiling water until tender; drain (Often, I cook the potatoes in chicken or turkey stock to add a little flavor. I don't know if Granny did it that way, but it sure is tasty.)
While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter (helps keep the potatoes hot)
Put the potatoes in a large, sturdy bowl and pour in the melted butter
Start mashing with a potato masher
Add canned milk and mash until desired consistency
Season to taste
